Blood Donation

  • 24/7 Voluntary Blood Centre Since 2007 The IRCS Thanjavur District Branch operates one of the few District Blood Centres in Tamil Nadu providing round-the-clock service.
  • Impact: Ensures that safe, screened blood and blood components are always available for accident victims, elective surgeries, and patients requiring life-long transfusions.
  • Operations: Voluntary blood donation camps are organized frequently across the district, ensuring a sustainable blood supply.
  • Recognition: Regular donors and partner institutions are recognized for their selfless commitment.

Disaster Relief & Preparedness

  • Response: Provides immediate relief and emergency response during floods, cyclones, industrial accidents, and fire incidents across the district and surrounding regions.
  • Materials: Coordinated distribution of relief materials, including essential non-food items, water, clothing, tarpaulins, and specialized shelter kits.
  • Preparedness: Implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) strategies, including community-level awareness programs and realistic mock drills for Cyclones and Earthquakes.

Disaster & First Aid Training

  • Capacity Metric: Building a Prepared Community in collaboration with Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority (TNSDMA): 300 Aapda Mitras and 600 First Responders Trained (2022-2023).
  • First Aid: Offers certified, practical-focused First Aid Training for the general public, corporate employees, and educational institutions, essential for workplace safety and personal readiness.
  • Disaster Response: Provides specialized Disaster Response Training for community volunteers, covering trauma care, search techniques, and evacuation protocols.

Ambulance Service

  • Function: Operates modern ambulances providing emergency transport and medical stabilization en route to specialized hospitals across Tamil Nadu.
  • Social Equity: Dedicated to the Underprivileged: Providing essential, subsidized transport for the economically vulnerable, ensuring critical medical care is accessible regardless of financial status.

Social Welfare & Rescue Programs

  • Street Rescue: Conducts active street rescue and compassionate rehabilitation for vulnerable individuals found wandering (including the destitute, elderly, and mentally ill).
  • Coordination: Works closely with the Emergency Care & Rehabilitation Centre (ECRC) and the One Stop Centre (OSC) to provide integrated medical care, psychological support, and temporary shelter.
  • Goal: Facilitating family tracing and long-term reintegration into society with dignity and support.
